Scavenger Hunt Sunday {April 14}

The first Scavenger Hunt Sunday on the new blog. Technically it's late Saturday evening that I'm putting this together but I'm suppose to have a photo shoot (fingers crossed for no flaking!) plus serious gym time tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll have the time. It's been a little over three weeks that Kris has been up in Oregon. I miss him tons but I've been keeping busy with school and photography, along with the help of distraction thanks to my friends. The time is flying by but it doesn't seem to fly by fast enough when we still don't know when we will be able to see each other again. Enough of the sad stuff though!

Glow
With the nights getting warmer, it's actually nice to spend time in the backyard again. These are some of the lights we have on the patio.

Old
I collect antique skeleton keys. My collection is pretty small at the moment, I only have seven keys but I love searching for them and I'm waiting for the day that I find a really extravagant one!

Shadow
I took this a month or so ago when I was playing around with night photography. When photographing the city light's at night, this old car was sitting in the nearby parking lot. I thought it made for an interesting subject and I really like how it turned out.

Spring
I'm not the biggest fan of spring. I love the colors that it brings as well as warmer weather. However spring usually brings two other things: allergies and bees. My allergies have been in overdrive the past few weeks and you guys... I HATE BEES. I was stung on my foot once in high school and I believe it was last summer that a wasp landed on my hand and for NO REASON stung the crap out of me and my hand was swollen up and felt like a thousand burning suns. So photographing this bee made me extremely jumpy, especially when I kept forgetting I was looking through a zoom lens and it wasn't really that close to me!

Smile
This was taken during a session I did a little while ago with the family of my old friend from high school. His little girl was so cute and had no problem smiling unlike her older brother. Cutest batgirl I've ever seen!

Stopping in from Scavenger Hunt Sunday and really enjoyed your pictures.

The shadow picture is exquisite and I love the tone you captured. Purple flowers always make my day.

  5. I like your blog design and adore your choices for this week's hunt. I'm with Robyn - the shadow picture is indeed, exquisite.

Here is to hoping your photo shoot pans out and you have a glorious weekend.

(ps - my daughter has a 'drama queen' worthy fear of bees and bugs in general, so she would be right with you on the whole 'love it/hate it' philosophy about Spring).

    1. Thank you so much! This is the very first blog design I did on my own so I'm very pleased with it. Tell your daughter she has every right to be a bee drama queen! They are the worst!

  6. These are fantastic. I too feel your trepidation about the bees...I am allergic (I found out) after sticking my hand in a glove to do some spring cleaning last spring when an over-wintering yellow jacket stung me 4 times in one thumb o_O Needless to say...I try to stay far, far away from now on. I store my gloves INSIDE my house now instead of in the barn!

    Your photography is beautiful.

    1. Oh my god how terrifying! I was on the middle of the river in a boat with a bunch of friends when a wasp just randomly landed on my hand below my thumb and stung me, it hurt so bad I was crying! Worst experience ever so I totally feel your pain. I can't believe you got stung four times!

  7. A lovely set!
I really enjoyed your glow and the old. The night shot of the car is wonderful. Just looking at the picture you'd think it was a vintage B&W shot!

  8. Nice set. Sorry about your bee and wasp stings but your spring shot is beautiful.
Shadow was a very interesting shot and perhaps my favorite of your set.
